Maybe you have asked yourself, why have I dedicated my entire blog to such a small industry? Well to answer you, what Website Flipping lacks in size it more than makes up for in potential. Website Flipping has so many competitive advantages over other online industries that it has become a very lucrative and attractive way to make a living.
Low Capital
Now I know compared to those get rich quick schemes with no capital that $500-$1000 can be a lot of money. But it is all relative. Imagine if I sold you an offline business for $1000. Would you be interested then? Essentially to get started you need to buy one thing, a website. Now you won’t buy any eBay’s or Youtubes for $500 but you may be able to buy a seriously underdeveloped site that has managed to capture a small niche. That’s all you need.
Low Cost
Now after buying the website there are two ways to go about it. If you have the skills you can develop yourself or you may have to hire someone to make the changes for you. You can get quality offshore programmers for about $12 an hour. You may splash out on some promotion, scripts and content or whatever but essentially there is not a high cost to develop a website, particularly if you compare to having a site designed from scratch.
Low Competition
Now currently there are only a handful of website flippers around. In the future I expect this to change (especially with my help), as the knowledge of this industry spreads and the appeal of low market entry start to take effect. Even with the growth of website flipping competition I believe it will still be an appealing industry because selling websites is also growing quickly as people become more confident.
Huge Market
The market for buying and selling websites is somewhat limited but will grow exponentially over the next few years. Simply consider the number of websites, webmasters, web designers, people looking to make online money and you can see the potential size of the market.
High Profit Margins
Depending on the initial size of your investment there are some real high profit margins being experienced by people. A $500 site can easily become a $2000 site in a few weeks. That’s a 400% return on investment and that would be hard to match in any industry.
So if you asked yourself whether flipping websites would be able to satisfy your online income goals then you have your answer. There is serious money to be made in a market that is essentially open to anyone to enter.

You can probably get a decent website set up and runing for $300 but it would still require a heap of promotion and SEO to get the aged effect.

Hi Mortgage,
If you’re smart you’ll buy a site that already has traffic and SEO rankings.
This is what he is saying. There are a ton of different strategies and entry levels. Literally, anyone at any level can get into website flipping at a size that fits them.

With so many high traffic, yet outdated & crappy looking sites, there is a ton of potential in buying these up.
A lot of these sites are using none or only a fraction of their advertisement monetization potential. Buy one of these sites for $500, slap Google Adsense on the front page for a month, take the profits and flip!

Well welcome to our website flipping royalty. For those who dont know Justin Brooke has about 6 websites/blogs/forums dedicated to website flipping. Other than Justin and our site here there is really no other sites dedicated to website flipping and only a few more that even briefly mention it. So thats what we mean when we say potential!

I actually was thinking about this topic earlier today. While I don’t think I could do site flipping myself (the income stream, while good for must areas, wouldn’t provide much of a lifestyle here in Los Angeles where we need 100k a year just to survive
). However, I definitely think it’s worth it and I could see easily making about $400 a month doing this with about 10 hours a week. Now, thats going for the basic blog type site with PLR or Article Directory articles, some basic adsense, and a nice theme. If you’re talking building some real sites, then the income would be much greater but so would the time investment.
