This is a easy, simple to implement technique that will really boost your SEO efforts and your traffic. I was going to keep this to myself but I realized that anyone kind enough to care about what I have to say should at least get all the information I can provide.

However if you want to rank number 1 in Google for “Sex” than this technique wont really help you much. What this technique does do is provide lots of high rankings for related but uncompetitive keywords.

To make it easier to understand I wont describe the process but show you an example.

For this example I have a health related website.

Step 1.

Visit http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com or another keyword suggestion tool.

Type in any related keyword to your website. In my example I will type in health. Now to the right you can see the results. What I am looking for is a related keyword that is slightly long winded and seems uncompetitive. As a rule of thumb it should be at least a three-word phrase with more than 50 daily searches. Now the first result is “health” with 5372 daily results. Obviously this would be an overly competitive keyword so I continue my search down the list. Eventually I will find “health benefits of hula hooping” with 220 daily searches. This keyword phrase consist of 5 words, has plenty of searches and from common sense seems like an uncompetitive keyword. So I record the result and continue looking. Now once I have looked through the list and recorded all possible keywords I move on to step 2.

Step 2

Visit www.google.com

This is where we can test the competitiveness of the keywords. We take one keyword, “health benefits of hula hooping” and pop it into google in inverted commas. This will give us the number of websites competing for this keyword. As you can see in the image there is 43 results. Anything less than 200 is perfect so we can now confirm that the keyword is non-competitive and frequently searched.

Step 3

Write A great Article

If you notice the title of step 3 I say “Great” article, not just an article. I say this because you want visitors to come back to your site and if they visit it by looking up your keywords in the search engine and get a load of garbage they will not be returning. So basically you need to write a GREAT article about the keywords you have chosen. First thing to do is use the keywords in your article title. Having it exactly the same as you found the searched keyword e.g Health Benefits of Hula Hooping is best, but if it does not make sense you should arrange the words to be coherent. There are two other things to remember. The first is that people typing in keywords in a search engine are always asking a question. Work out what it is and make sure you thoroughly answer it. The second is to use your keywords frequently throughout the article to improve your chances of ranking highly. So for my keyword I would write an article with a list of health benefits of Hula Hooping. I would be thorough and add my keywords often for example “another health benefit of hula hoping is…”

Step 4

Digg IT!

This step is optional but I prefer using it to bring instant and direct results. Basically once I publish my article I will add it to the Digg site (or Stumbleupon). I then title it exactly as how the keywords were written and use the opening paragraph of the article for the description. The reason I do this is because Digg will get indexed within hours and often because of its size rank very well. So within a few hours you can be ranking in the top 10 of google for your keyword via Digg. The other reason I use Digg is so I can use the exact keywords because coherency is less important when featured on Digg as it does not reflect the quality of your blog. So if my keyword search phrase is “buy online cars” my article title would be slightly different to provide an accurate idea of the article. “The best places to buy cars online” would be a better title for my article. So essentially you can now rank highly for two keyword phrases for the one article.

Now that you have done this you repeat the process every few days and in a month or two you will have 20-30 high ranking keywords bringing in traffic. On average each keyword can bring in 3-50 visits a day depending on your position in the search engines.

The technique is great for residual traffic as it is unlikely that there would be several competitiors in the future dropping your ranking down.

This is good to promote your article on digg and other social bookmarking network as soon as you post so that it will be crawled within an hou.
Secondly I personally have experimented that if you do daily one post and submit in digg, stumbleupon and other network site inclu (the most important forum digital point) then your blog or website is crawled daily by google and google will crawl whole blog every week. That’s sure.

I, for one. Welcome our new hula hooping overlords.

I agree with everything but #1. The Wordtracker tool is horribly antiquated, and its data has not been updated in about two years. That’s forever on the internet.

Do yourself a favor and use Google’s free keyword tool. They just updated it last week to include search counts:

Thanks for the link Will. As I mentioned keyword research is not perfect but I did not realise google now included search counts. I will check it out.

@ Shane. I too welcome our Hula Hooping overloads and would like to remind them of the usefulness that a respected blog writer can have in conquering society.
